Directions

Cooking directions: Measures (serves 2-4). 1 cup basmati. 1 1/2 cups water. 1 tbs butter or oil (optional). Pinch of salt (optional). Wash rice in several changes of water and then drain water. For best results, soak rice in cold water for 30 minutes and again drain water completely. If you wish to add butter or oil, melt butter/oil in a pot over stove and then add the drained rice. Stir until rice is evenly coated. Turn off the flame and let the pot sit for about 10 minutes before serving. Add water and salt (optional) to rice and bring to boiling. Cover pot with tight lid, turn heat to very low and cook for about 20 minutes.
