About: Typical diet includes pulpy fruits, insects, tree frogs. Behavior is territorial: they live in small family groups. Lives in forest canopy above cultivated, shade-loving cocoa trees. Golden-headed lion tamarins prefer closed canopy forests with many vines, which provide protection from aerial predators and easy arboreal pathways. Their, long tails serve for balance as they jump from branch to branch. Long, narrow fingers with delicate claw-like nails help them cling to trees and are perfectly adapted to forage for small prey. These squirrel-sized monkeys forage by day and sleep as a family group in tree hollows at night. Threats: Habitat degradation. Water & air pollution. Invasive species diseases. Human interference poaching. Climate change natural events. Chemicals pesticide use. Habitat loss and fragmentation, as a result of agricultural development, is the main threat to these lion tamarins and many other species in Brazil's Atlantic coastal forest. Roughly 90% of the golden-headed lion tamarin's historic range has been lost or fragmented. Ethical ingredients: An indulgent chocolate experience supporting farmers habitats and your health.
