Since 1978. The sweetness of Miami. These Toasted Cakes are my special creation, but if not for Hurricane Andrew, in 1992, they may never have been born. After the storm hit, it left our bakery without electricity for over a week. Rather than watching cakes already baked go to waste, we decided to slice them up and toast them in our gas-powered oven. The result was the most delicious combination of sweet and crunchy we had ever tasted. Talk about necessity being the mother of invention.
