Inspired by award winning recipes. It all started in 1967 with a Texan and a New Yorker debating over who made the best chili. They met in Terlingua, Texas, then a ghost town in the Big Bend country of the Rio Grande. For the last 50 years, the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) has hosted the event, with approximately 500 chili cook-offs annually leading up to the Terlingua Championship and the ultimate Grand Pepper trophy.
