Back in the '70s, I was a wilderness guide in the High Sierra. That meant that I was also in charge of the food. Most trips were 10 to 14 days. and about half way through each trip, people would get tired of dinner (there's only so much creativity you can bring to dinner in the backcountry). But I noticed that everyone looked forward to granola for breakfast. So I started making my own from stuff that I thought people would like. And they did!
