Do not store above 120 degrees F. Read cautions on back. Installation Instructions: 1. Remove both of the Smart Clips from the cap and insert them into vehicle's center air vent. 2. Locate the vehicle's low side service port. This port will often have a plastic cap and is located between the a/c compressor and the evaporator and the evaporator. It is the only port to which the recharge hose will connect. 3. Start the engine and turn air conditioner to maximum cool and maximum air flow. Close passenger compartment. 4. Tighten the recharge hose to the top of the Avalanche can by turning it clockwise. Make sure it is firmly attached. Shake can well. Connect the quick connect coupler to the low side service port by pulling the connector ring back as you push the fitting onto the service port. Make sure it locks into place. 5. Check gauge pressure when the compressor cycles on. Using the chart, determine the correct low-pressure PSI level, check your compressor to see if it is cycling on. If the compressor does not engage, repairs may need to be performed. If gauge read in the Red Zone and the compressor is cycled on, do not recharge. Seek a mechanic's assistance. 6. Turn the push button counter clockwise to unlock. Add refrigerant by pushing down on the push button while fully rotating the can from a 12 o'clock position to 3 o'clock position, manually agitating (sweeping) can back and forth. The word Avalanche will turn from white to blue indicating refrigerant is being added to the system. If your system is very low in refrigerant this process can take several minutes. Do not overcharge/do not vent. 7. Check pressure every 10-15 seconds by releasing the push button. Continue process until the needle of the gauge reaches the low-pressure PSI level according to the chart. Check the Smart Clips while increasing your RPM slightly with closed passenger compartment. One clip will change to blue showing the a/c is approaching optimum fill. The second clip will change to green showing the system is sufficiently charged (if outside temperature is above 95 only the blue clip needs to change for sufficient refrigerant fill). Remove quick-connect coupler from service port. Never place refrigerant can on any hot engine part. When you have the correct fill and your air conditioner is blowing cold, stop charging. Remove the quick-connect coupler from the service port and store in a cool, dry place or discard according to state or local guidelines. The hose can be detached and re-used. Some vehicles with expansion valves cannot be accurately. Charged using low side pressure gauge only. If your gauge is not increasing, stop charging and check air vent temperature. The PSI may only increase to 25-30 psi on these systems.
