Product Details
Estd 1892. Distilled at The Balvenie distillery Banffshire Scotland. inished in Portwood port casks. Aged 21 years. In the making of the Balvenie PortWood, Our Malt Master carefully selects rare reserves of Balvenie and transfers them to port casks for a further few months of maturation. David Stewart - The Balvenie malt master. The Balvenie Distillery has been owned by the same independent family company for five generations. Nowhere else will you find a distillery that still grows its own barley, that still malts in its own traditional floor maltings, that still has coppers to tend the casks and a coppersmith to tend the stills. From the distillery comes The Balvenie Portwood aged 21 years characterised by fruit, honey and spice notes, with a gentle nutty finish. Handcrafted to be enjoyed responsibly. Tasting Notes: A perfume of ripe raisin notes and fruit skins is backed by a dryness with hints of almonds and walnuts. To taste it is silky with fruit, syrupy honey sweetness, leather oak tannins and notes of ginger and cinnamon. Its finish is long, gentle and nutty. Maturation: The first traditional whisky oak maturation mellows the spirit and builds character. A second cask ageing is at the heart of The Balvenie Portwood and produces a single malt of refinement and remarkable complexity. www.thebalvenie.com. 43% alc./vol. 86Nutrition Facts
