Emmi Fondue Cheese From Switzerland Original

Directions

Fondue Finesse: Asian flair - mix in 2 tsp of curry powder and some lemon juice. Serve with pineapple and pears. Italian flavor - add 1 tbs of tomato paste with a little tomato juice. Season to taste with basil. Preparation: 1. Cut open the bag. 2. Pour contents of the bag into an enameled cast iron pan or caquelon (fondue pot). 3. Bring fondue to a quick boil on the stove while stirring continuously until smooth. 4. Prepare the bread cubes. 5. To serve, place the caquelon on the fondue burner so that the cheese continues to cook evenly. Skewer bread cubes or other side dishes (see dipping options) with a fork and dip into the fondue. Stir evenly so that the fondue stays thick and smooth. Enjoy! Storage tip: Best kept cool and dry.

Other Description

What is fondue? French for "melted", fondue is a traditional Swiss dish of melted cheese, wine and seasonings served family style in a special heated pot called a "caquelon" or "fondue pot". Dating back to 18th-century Switzerland, the discovery of fondue is credited to herdsmen in the Valais and Gruyere alpine regions who enjoyed dipping hearty chunks of local bread into melted cheese. Beverages: Enjoy a chilled dry white wine, such as riesling. Serve sparkling apple cider as a non-alcoholic option. Hot tea makes a great partner. Dipping options: Traditionally crusty 1" cubes of bread or baguettes are used for dipping, but try these additional suggestions for fun and tasty alternatives: Cubed cooked ham or turkey. Grilled beef, chicken or vegetables. Roasted mushrooms. Baby carrots. Cherry tomatoes. Boiled new potatoes. Chunks of apples and pears. Red and green grapes. Boiled shrimp. Steamed broccoli or cauliflower florets. Easy to prepare and simply delicious! Pasteurized. Contains alcohol. Ready made fondue. www.emmi.com.
