Giant Basmati Rice

Cooking: 1. Measure 2 cups of water into a saucepan with a tight fitting lid and bring to a boil. Add 2 tsp of butter or olive oil (optional). Salt to taste. 2. Stir in 1 cup of Basmati Rice. 3. Cover saucepan with a tight fitting lid. Lower the heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and all of the water is absorbed. 4. Remove from the heat and allow to sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork. A rice cooker may be used with the same rice-to-water ratio. Yields approximately 3 cups of Basmati Rice. For softer rice use more water, for firmer rice use less water. Microwave: Combine 1 cup Basmati Rice, 2 cups water, 2 tsp butter or olive oil (optional) and salt to taste. Place into a microwaveable safe dish with a cover. Cover and microwave on Medium-High power for 6 minutes. Stir. Continue cooking on medium power for 15 minutes or until all of the water is absorbed. Let rice rest for 5 minutes before serving. Fluff with a fork. These are guidelines only as microwaves may vary.
