Home-Cooked Skillet Meal, Tuna Melt

Directions

You Will Need: 2-1/2 cups hot water; 1 cup milk; 3 tbsp margarine or butter; 1 can (6 oz) tuna, drained; for topping 1/4 cup milk. 1. Stir together in 10-inch skillet: uncooked pasta, sauce mix, hot water, 1 cup milk, the margarine and tuna. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. 2. Reduce heat, cover and simmer about 14 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender (sauce will thicken as it stands). Meanwhile stir 1/4 cup milk and topping mix in bowl 30 seconds, set aside. 3, Remove from heat, pour topping over tuna mixture. (If topping is too thick to pour, stir in an additional 1/2 to 1 tsp milk). Oven: 1. Heat oven to 425 degrees F, stir together in ungreased 2-quart casserole, uncooked pasta, sauce mix, 2-1/2 cups boiling water, 1/4 cup milk, 3 tbsp margarine or butter and 1 can (6 oz) tuna, drained. 2. Cover and bake about 22 minutes or until pasta is tender (sauce will thicken as it stands). Meanwhile, stir 1/4 cup milk and topping mix in bowl 30 seconds, set aside. 3. Remove cover carefully, stir tuna mixture, pour topping over tuna mixture. (If topping is too thick to pour, stir in an additional 1/2 to 1 tsp milk). To reduce fat, use fat-free (skim) milk, and decrease margarine to 2 tsp. Microwave: 1. Stir together in 2-1/2 qt microwavable casserole or bowl, uncooked pasta, sauce mix, 2-1/2 cups boiling water, 1 cup milk, 3 tbsp margarine or butter and 1 can (6 oz) tuna, drained. 2. Microwave uncovered on high 10 to 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes, until pasta is tender (sauce will thicken as it stands). Dish will be hot. Meanwhile stir 1/4 cup milk and topping mix in bowl 30 seconds, set aside. 3. Stir tuna mixture, pour topping over tuna mixture. (If topping is too thick to pour, stir in an additional 1/2 to 1 tsp milk). High Altitude Microwave (3500-6500 ft): Increase boiling water to 2-3/4 cups and microwave time to 12-17 min.
